The Senior Manager/Assoc Director, Medical Affairs Disease Planning will manage across a global, cross-functionalmatrix organization to provide support for key strategic priorities across the relevant Medical Affairs disease teams. The Senior Manager/Assoc Director will primarily be responsible for partnering with and supporting all aspects of the Medical Affairs Disease Lead (MADL) activities from a Medical Affairs perspective. Additionally, he/she will be accountable for developing and managing the formalized MA disease planning process, aligned with the Global Disease Strategies and CDPs/IDPs, as well as ensuring that Medical Affairs functional priorities align with the diseases. The Senior Manager/Assoc Director will work closely with Medical Affairs functional representatives as well as cross-functional counterparts to ensure successful implementation of initiatives. The ideal candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate the ability to navigate a complex, dynamic environment where cross-functional collaboration and leadership is essential to delivering exceptional results. The candidate must have a strong business sense where he/she is able to leverage critical strategic thinking, tactical considerations and creative solutions to best support the respective Medical teams in their planning and execution of critical initiatives. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Serve as the primary accountable support for the assigned Therapeutic Areas and their Medical Affairs teams to implement consistent processes and strategic approach in managing key disease initiatives that are championed by the function 2. Manage formalized process to deliver MA disease plans aligned with both global and regional, and seek to enhance process improvements where opportunities exist 3. Partner with each relevant MADL and their Medical sub-teams to support regular team meetings, including agenda development, timeline management of key deliverables, goal tracking support and communication of key initiatives being driven by our team 4. Support the defined process to develop/maintain Open Research Questions and track respective MA activities (IIT mapping) 5. Partner with the MADLs, MA MSLs and Operations team to support regular global/regional IIT Portfolio Review meetings with management 6. Lead the development and execution of Quarterly Business Reviews to ensure consistent and effective goal-setting and tracking processes are in place for MA priority activities 7. Partner across MA functions to develop, deliver, and track effective KOL strategies and tactics 8. Facilitate best-practice-sharing across disease teams, and develop alignment/consistency of processes, where appropriate 9. Identify and address global/regional coordination and communication gaps around key initiatives 10. Operate as a resource/liaison representing the MADLs for planning around key meetings (DLF, GM&M, GMF-GMAF, GMA) 11. Continuously solicit feedback and implement changes to drive further refinements of processes 12. Regularly identify MA excellence opportunities through direct interactions with MADLs and deliver proposed solutions 13. Partner with MA Operational Excellence to deliver technology solutions supporting key initiatives 14. Support the disease-level Medical Affairs budgeting process and tracking to provide more effective business decision-making 15. Conducts business in accordance with Celgene Values. 16. Completes all assigned SOPs and training within designated timeframe and adheres to job-specific SOPs and work instructions Qualifications Skills/Knowledge Required: • Bachelors Degree in related field, plus an advanced degree, such as an MBA or PhD, is highly desirable • Minimum 5-7 years Pharmaceutical experience, preferably with 3-5 years Medical Affairs experience, or comparable experience working with Disease Leads, Medical Directors, or Medical Affairs functions • Solid understanding of compliance environment, major MA infrastructure and activities including RML organization, KOL Management, IITs, Publications, Medical Education, and Medical Information • Solid understanding of what drives resource requirements in different Medical Affairs functions, and how resources can be scaled up to meet growing needs over time • Knowledge and use of external resources/benchmarking to ensure optimal Medical Affairs operations • Ability to develop strategic, long-range plans that are aligned with strategies across the organization and to implement them successfully • Excellent written and oral communication skills required Competencies Required Leadership, Cross-Functional Execution/Teamwork and Positive Working Relationships, Analytical and Problem-solving, Strategic, Strong Business Acumen, Technical/Professional Knowledge, Planning and Organizing, Strong Communication Skills, Operational Capabilities, Budget Management, Ongoing Listening and Learning EEO Celgene is committed to equal opportunity in the terms and conditions of employment for all employees and job applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or gender expression, national origin, disability or veteran status.
