Description Area Vice-President (AVP) Sales (USMD Portfolio) The Portfolio Area Vice President role will be responsible for leading and managing three distinct sales teams: Portfolio, Pharmacy, and Nutrition. This role is located in Round Lake, Illinois and will be based in the Chicago area with direct responsibility for the central region of the U.S. The Portfolio Area Vice President will develop and execute strategy that optimizes profitability growth to the business (top and bottom line) while satisfying the customer base. The ability to work closely with marketing, sales operations, legal, finance, sales training and medical affairs in both a direct and matrix environment is a requirement. The ideal candidate will have a track record of achievement in building high performance teams and sustainable sales growth as well as a demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire large teams. Knowledge of the hospital market is preferred. Responsibilities: Achieve the annual sales and pre-tax profit expectation Develop and execute strategies that protect, maintain and grow the business Lead and maintain full accountability for the area sales team Build a high performance team Ensure alignment with legal, commercial operations, marketing and finance Ability to recruit, develop, coach and maintain talent Effective deployment of human and financial resources Define and implement sales/contracting incentive programs that motivate the field teams to achieve their business targets and maximize participation Contribute to the development of sales/management training programs that enable staff to realize their full potential in delivering business targets Exceed customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction Build a high performing organization with a cohesive team of leaders through selection, development, motivation, coaching, counseling, and empowerment Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to develop short and long range forecasts and budgets Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities Develop commission plans that reward results and support marketing initiatives Role specific skill sets include: 1. Hospital Sales and Contract Negotiation Experience with GPO's and IDN's 2. Ability to Matrix/Manage Baxter Resources/Intersections 3. Strategic Selling Focus & Account Level Business Planning to drive results 4. Coach/Leader/Motivator 5. Customer Focused 6. Promotes the Baxter Culture through positive ongoing customer relations and compliance with all company policies and procedures. 7. Financial & Business Acumen 8. Strong Presence and Presentation Skills Qualifications Requirements: · Demonstrated medical device sales experience in leading large organizations to meet/exceed business plans within the acute care market · A minimum of 5 years of experience in negotiating contracts and generating contract pull-through with GPO's and IDN's at the system level · Cross-functional experience in other commercial roles, such as Sales, Marketing, Managed Markets, Sales Training, Global Marketing, and Commercial Excellence required · Leadership experience in launching new products/contracts in U.S. market in the last 5 years · Leadership experience launching and/or using sales automation and CRM tools · A minimum of 10 years of people management experience as well as effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities · Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills including engaging people and leading positive change · Comfortable leading through ambiguity and delivering results · Effective administrator who efficiently manages time, resources and workload · Ability to promote the Baxter culture through positive ongoing customer relations and compliance with all company policies and procedures · High financial acumen and previous P&L experience required · Bachelor’s Degree Required.
