We have an opportunity for a Senior Scientist / Principal Scientist, Pharmacology at our Santa Monica, CA location. Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our Pharmacology team to evaluate in-house naked antibody cancer therapeutics and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) in human tumor xenograft models and patient-derived xenograft models. In addition to the pharmacology studies, the department also leads the preclinical Bio-Imaging efforts using Optical and micro PET/CT imaging modalities to valuate therapeutic antibodies and ADCs and to support translational research efforts and mechanism of action studies. Key responsibilities: Implement in vivo studies to validate the biological functions of cancer targets, to evaluate the efficacy of antibody therapeutics against these targets Explore the mechanisms of action of selected therapeutic candidates. Develop patient-derived and cell line-derived xenograft models and evaluate them against Standard of Care agents. Conduct PK/PD and preliminary toxicology studies to further evaluate our therapeutic candidates in support of clinical development. The qualified candidate is expected to be able to provide technical and scientific guidance to research associates and design the PK, PK/PD, efficacy and MoA studies Interpret and summarize results and present the data. Write Pharmacology study reports. The position involves hands-on activities as well as collaboration and interaction with other scientists and staff members in Research and Development. Requirements Position requirements: Candidate consideration requires a Ph.D., in Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Biochemistry or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral experience in Oncology research and a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in Oncology drug discovery in industry. Knowledge of the entire drug discovery process with good understanding of drug development is desired. Previous hands-on experience in cell culture and using human tumor xenograft models in oncology research, as evidenced by publications, is required. Understanding the basic concepts of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics is required. Experience in patient-derived tumor xenograft and primary tumor cell line development is a definite plus. Ability to develop relevant models for evaluation of immunomodulatory therapeutics is desirable. Previous experience in supervising and managing research associates is required. Successful candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated and able to demonstrate leadership. Ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects at one time, and change priorities based on business needs Should not have animal allergies Developmental opportunities include building new in vivo technology platforms and developing the skill sets required to manage research associates.
