Summary/Scope The ideal candidate will provide an active and dynamic extension to the efforts of the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations – Research & Early Development and the implementation of key strategies to enhance the impact of the R&ED organization. The candidate will work closely and support the day-to-day activities of the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations – Research & Early Development . Further, the candidate will own and deliver on discrete and defined aspects on various projects which include strategic business planning, organizational design, and development and implementation of specific operational enhancement projects that complement current resource allocation, internal governance and process optimization. The candidate will perform various business related tasks and projects in a timely manner as assigned by the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations – Research & Early Development. This position will provide an interface with other functions, including Clinical Development, Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Global Marketing, and other functional and operational business partners, to facilitate the overall effectiveness of R&ED. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Plan, develop, organize, direct and implement strategies to contribute to the overall effectiveness and performance of R&ED. 2. Support the development of RED’s strategy development, objective-setting, business planning, and budgeting processes. 3. Work with the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations – Research & Early Development and other key senior R&ED leaders to acquire data, formulate plans, and implement processes for organizational enhancement. 4. Work with the leaders of R&ED to facilitate content development, communications, and meeting execution for a range of meetings, events and commitments. Interface with appropriate business and committee owners as needed. 5. Work with the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations – Research & Early Development internal and external communications for ERD, including input to management committee meetings, BoD discussions, strategic initiatives, earnings call scripts, media appearances, and speeches at investor, industry, and public policy conferences. 6. Create and execute internal communication opportunities, including site visits, Town Halls, and other interactions with RED leadership and team members. 7. Provide analytical and decision-making support to the ERD leadership team. Prepare and analyze scientific portfolio review and assessments of clinical pipeline and seek commercial /global marketing input and alignment as appropriate. 8. Work directly with the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations – Research & Early Development, the President of ERD and SVP of Business Development, and other key senior management members to provide scientific input and coordinate resolution of operational issues related to various business transactions such as acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing transactions and spin outs. Skills/Knowledge Required: • BA or BS from an accredited college • Strong problem-solving skills – able to identify, gather and analyze relevant information and distil key insights in a timely way and develop actionable recommendations • Strong business acumen: able to analyze scientific, business and financial data and derive most critical insights and prepare reports and communicate findings orally and in writing • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; adept at working within and across functional organizations at all levels • Excellent written skills; able to observe and gather information and effectively communicate key messages and takeaways in written form • Ability to work as a team player in a very fast-paced environment • Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook and highly proficient user of other Microsoft applications including Word Celgene is committed to equal opportunity in the terms and conditions of employment for all employees and job applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or gender expression, national origin, disability or veteran status.
