Role Description Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and calibration of Pfizer’s multi-vendor equipment such as mass spectrometers, plate washers, plate readers and general analytical equipment. First response to customer requests for repair and maintenance of general laboratory equipment. Provide general direction and work prioritization for OEM contracted maintenance support. 1. Repair, maintain and calibrate analytical scientific lab instrumentation 2. Communicate clearly, understand and acknowledge verbal instructions, and be able to read and interpret work from work orders and task instructions. 3. Maintain basic computer skills necessary to access CMMS (EAMS) work order system, update equipment history, and access parts/material inventory management system. 4. Provide support to contractors, vendors, and scientists in a manner consistent with established work practices and quality standards. May be called upon to provide Vendor/OEM escorts for specialty repairs. 5. The ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures. 6. Frequent critical communication, collaboration and coordination of work order and equipment information with customers, vendors, Global Operations peers, LIS Engineers/Technicians, LIS Manager, Asset Lifecycle/Planner, IT, etc. Responsibilities 1. Primary responder to customer requests to install, configure, maintain, as well as, repair and test multi-vendor mass spectrometers (such as Waters Corp, Agilent Technologies, ThermoFisher, and ABSciex), HPLC’s, autosamplers, plate readers and analyzers, to bring it to manufacturer’s specifications. 2. Perform assigned PMs and calibrations on laboratory equipment, and report changes or repairs needed. Instrument types include but are not limited to: mass spectrometers, HPLC’s, autosamplers, plate readers, and analyzers. 3. Execute required administrative duties. For example: preparation of parts and assets for shipping, management of spare parts (replenish stock, organize, create inventory, etc.), asset inventory, maintenance of service records, equipment manuals specifications and technical reference materials. 4. Schedule, greet, escort and support vendors as required by Pfizer Security Policy to achieve LIS objectives. 5. Execute small projects which may include minor equipment installations, configurations, modifications, and moves. 6. Maintain elements of department documentation such as service reports, parts ordering, inventory, and PM schedules. 7. Understand, and follow all regulatory and safety requirements. 8. Ability to articulate processes and procedures. 9. Provide great customer service as required. 10. Process, document, and report results of all work performed in CMMS (EAMS). 11. Work safety and report all potentially unsafe conditions. Participate and complete all required EH&S, technical and professional training assigned. 12. In addition to the above-described duties, the incumbent may be required to perform related duties as necessary to meet current contingency and/or mission requirements. Qualifications Minimum of at least four years related experience in the support and calibration of laboratory equipment. Associates degree in Chemistry or Electronics a plus. Three to five years working in a laboratory environment preferred. Preferred experience in the Pharmaceutical / Biotech Industry, with historical experience maintaining Analytical Laboratory Equipment. Must have experience installing, repairing, and completing preventive maintenance on Mass Specs (multiple vendors preferred), autosamplers, CTC, and other analytical instruments, including robotics, preferably within a research environment. Normally indoors under relatively clean, warm and pleasant conditions; however, may be required to work in hot or cold environments for short duration. May be required to work in environments where conditions such as: noise and odors may exist. Work requests in Laboratory Environments have PPE requirements (Safety Glasses, Lab Coats, etc.). In the performance of this job, the incumbent may be required to do prolonged standing, walking and sitting. Some heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required.
