Job ID Number: 2014008953 Location: USA - CO - Denver Job Description Position Summary Responsible for re-engineering current manufacturing and administrative processes following lean methodologies at the direction of the Focus Factory Manager and Plant Management Team. The Lean expert will be challenged with supporting and enhancing our culture through the employment of JIT, VSM, Kaizen, Setup Reduction and TPM/OEE. This is a hands-on position. Design, development, testing, and evaluation of new and existing systems of high-volume automated manufacturing of medical devices. Technical areas may include human work factors, material flow, cost analysis, project management, standard work development and process optimization. Collect and analyze data, use statistical methods to identify problem areas, and work to achieve greater equipment efficiency and performance. Work with management to identify, develop and implement corrective action plans based on analysis, trend analysis and forecasting. Lead or participate in safety, quality, environmental, and continuous improvement projects. Adhere to environmental, safety, and quality policy and procedures and supports site and department compliance objectives. Interface with various operational disciplines including Engineering, Production operations, Material planning, Quality, and Finance. Needed Skills Support and facilitate ongoing growth and cost reduction by conducting Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping Events, Project Management activities and Lean training and facilitating. Data analysis, advanced statistical knowledge - Study operations sequence, material flow, perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staffing requirements, and production standards. Use statistical techniques to compile and analyze data and realize appropriate improvement initiatives Continuous Improvement Tools – Lean and Six Sigma applications and concepts and the knowledge of Root-cause analysis tools to identify problems and drive appropriate resolutions. Manufacturing Costing models - Ensure the maintenance of labor and equipment capacity models; work with engineering and operations to evaluate standard labor hours and efficiency to ensure accurate cost models. Project Management – Ability to balance multiple projects and lead several initiatives in key product manufacturing areas: Cost reduction, process optimization, quality improvement, and capacity improvements. Operational knowledge - Gather and analyze manufacturing metrics and KPI”s and work closely with the Operations organization to define appropriate process changes. Demonstrate mastery of lean principles and concepts and the ability to effectively communicate and mentor, coach and lead others. Key Characteristics Self-starter, proactive, forward-thinking, able to see the big picture, technically competent, able to take direction and develop the direction into his / her strategy. Skilled in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), other software systems, database development and management. Knowledge and understanding of Operations environment, knowledge of operations engineering and manufacturing facilities and systems. Excellent oral, presentation, and technical writing skills. At ease speaking in front of people, both working level and management. Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills – ability to work in a matrix organization and effectively lead without direct positional authority is required EDUCATION Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineer preferred) EXPERIENCE 2-5 years experience in an engineering role, including continuous improvement implementation. 2-5 years manufacturing-related experience, ideally in automated and manual assembly processes.
