Purpose of Role The Director MAP Pipeline Assets is responsible for the preliminary MAP strategy of some pipeline products up to DP 3,5 (roughly 2 years before Regulatory Approval), as well as for all other MAP deliverables during Pre-clinical development and Phases 1, 2 and 3a of Clinical Development. Key Accountabilities and Deliverables Develops initial pricing and market access assumptions as input into initial MAP Strategy (or strategy scenarios) for pipeline products up to DP3 Indication-specific landscape assessment of key markets Development of alternative pricing and market access strategic scenarios based on asset preliminary clinical data, hypotheses and assumptions during Phase II clinical development Develops MAP content of TPP and the periodic updating thereof and input into the asset development plan Preliminary market access and pricing assumptions for initial TPP (pre-clinical) Update of market access and pricing assumptions and givens for TPP at each DP (Decision Point in product development) Representation of the payer requirements in the asset development plan Conducts payer landscape assessment during Phase 2 to understand payer requirements for the clinical and commercial development plan, including mapping of stakeholders with global relevance Identification of payer requirements in each key market for each indication (collecting insights from key markets or through vendor) Consolidation of the most common payer requirements and translation thereof into evidence requirements Risk assessment of trade-off decisions in evidence generation strategy Identification of key MAP stakeholders with international impact and their core value drivers Interacts with regional MAP and select key affiliates to gather their insights about payer requirements and suitable comparators (or outsourcing thereof) At specific points in product development (as input into DP3), align with regions and select key affiliates about payer requirements – inventory of needs, consolidation of needs, degree by which needs will be addressed in development plan Consultation with regions and key affiliates about suitability of clinical and commercial development plan for their geography Consultation with regions and key affiliates about mitigation plan to address missing evidence Is member of product development teams Representation of the payer point of view, their value drivers and their requirements in the product development teams Cross-functional alignment and concession management with associated risk clarification regarding incorporation (or not) of payer requirements Organizes and delivers payer ad boards in collaboration with other business partners (clinical, commercial and HSR) during phases 2 and 3a of Product Development Identification of need for and timing of payer ad boards, in collaboration with HSR and other functions represented in product development team Maximization of efficiencies in set-up and timing of payer ad boards, combining assets and geographies where appropriate Translation of conclusions of payer ad boards into actionable recommendations for product development plan Oversight of degree in which these recommendations can be addressed (or not) in product development plan As needed, escalation of high risk discrepancies with other business partners to the Global Head of MAP Initiation of the value and access strategy team together with HSR Constitution of a product HSR-MAP Platform towards completion of Phase 3a Selection (along with HSR co-leader) of the MAP delegates from regions and key affiliates to conform this team, with buy-in of the Extended MAP Leadership team We are looking for a senior professional who: Has leadership skills: able to develop and execute executive engagement strategy with members of the oncology LT Is a good communicator: Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex concepts conversational; Engage in focused dialogue, and demonstrate good listening skills; Has very good negotiation & influencing skills Has experience working in a large, global corporation with a matrix organization Has more than 5 years (3-4 could be ok) of experience on Market Access & Pricing in the Pharmaceutical Industry, and has the technical skills required Scientific knowledge to understand key access elements of disease Health Economics, HEOR, Real world knowledge of interactions with payers Pricing: has knowledge to analyze a business case and make a recommendation on pricing Knowledge of Pricing and Reimbursement systems worldwide Is able to define a Global MAP strategy, and to lead Country & Regional MAP strategies Has worked on Market Access & Pricing at Regional Level / Global Level, with responsibilities at multi-country level for at least 2 years Is able to co-lead the huge change process which is required (internally & externally) to define & implement market access and pricing activities as part of the company commercial strategy Is a strategic thinker, able to understand the global picture internally (marketing & sales-medical-research-health economy…); and externally (he/she needs to know very well already the healthcare policy trends, P&R models, different payers stakeholders, contracting, pricing, Health Technology Assessments situation in Europe….) Makes things happen: has the right level of implementation skills, and is ready to be hands-on with pricing activities, and with market access activities on small countries where additional support is required Is a team player An undergraduate degree is required. Advanced degree/Masters level education is highly desirable. English is required; other languages a plus Ideal Candidate Has additional experience as a consultant in the field Comes from a pharmaceutical company where the Regional function of MAP, and MAP processes are already well established: Pfizer, Merck & Co, Novo Nordisk… Has worked at local level; experience on other areas rather than Market Access & Pricing is highly valuable (Managing Director, Franchise Head, Government Affairs, Health Economics, ….)
