Marc
Koska - inventor of K1 syringe. He is the inventor of star syringe. He is one
of the health care activist. He started re disgning the medical devices to
provide better health care in unfunded hospitals. He has worked in syringes to
re-design the syringe to aviod the HIV transmission through syringes. He
started this work because of one news which ha had come across in news paper in
his young age. The message was "one of the major
causes of the spread of AIDS,
the transmission
of AIDS.

http://www.ted.com/talks/marc_koska_the_devastating_toll_of_syringe_reuse.html

He has
worked to change the thought by redesigning the syringe. Recent past there is
lot disease spreading through syringe reuse which can be avioded easily by marc
koska invention. As per his statistics reuse of syringe kills 1.3 million
people a year.

His talk
starts with a title of 1.3m reasons to
reinvent the syringe. His talk starts with his story why he worked in re
inventing the syringe. He has explained the people who unknowingly suffering
with deadly diseases because of the re use of syringe. He has shown many
examples how they deal with syringes in many hospitals in asian countries. He explained
the skill of physicians and unskilled persons who deals with injections. There are
many reasons that causes reuse of syringe.

He explains
reuse and recycle of syringes are basic cause of disease transmission thorugh
syringe. So as per marc we need better product and better information. These are
the two main thigs can prevent many deaths. Marc proudly shos his invention
video which is working basically with same syringes. One lock system. Once the
syringe is used then we cannot reuse agian it gets lock and breaked inside. This
costs very less same like normal syringes.

We must
be proud of marc like people who improve our health care system.

As per me
marc invention is great step forward for better healthy community. Specially
his work is focused on indian community and asian population. Really there is
lack of awarness about the use of medical devices here in india. So, its
everyones duty to make the people aware of the complication due to the misuse
of medical devices. Lets have better health by having better products and
better information. Lets start spread awareness now..........

Thanks for providing me more knowledge on the safety syringes. I am worried are Indian Physicians and doctors giving importance for the safety. I am still observing in our villages doctors reuses the syringes. Villages are more in India. What kind of awareness program needed and who have to initiate this from pharmacy community or physicians community. can u please share your view on this sir.

Dear Habib, Hats off to mr.Koska for inventing such a syringe and protecting the life and health of people from deadly diseases. A very good idea of the lockable syringe and also the retractable syringe. Very innovative. Hope the news spreads like a rapid fire among the people and starts using them!

Its really a great invention. But, we the people who are responsible to create awareness to start using these kind of inventions to make sure our health care system is an integral one. Let start the awareness campaign now......

Habib, Its only because of such great inventors we are able to erradicate deadly diseases caused due to our negligence. The idea of lockable and retractable syringe is very innovative. Regards,
