Answer: 

Nyctalopia is nothing but 'Night Blindness'.

It occurs due to extreme Vitamin-A deficiency. This is because the amounts of Rhodopsin and Retinal formed are severely dropped off i.e depressed when the vitamin-A is deficient in our body.

The amount of light available during nights is too little to permit adequate vision in the persons suffering from Vitamin-A deficiency. Hence it is called Night blind ness.
