Mydriasis means dilatation of the pupil due to contraction of the dilator pupillae muscle and relaxation of sphincter pupillae muscle, drugs like phenyiephrine (Alpha 1 adrenergic agonist)causes contraction of dilator pupillae and drugs like cyclopentolate, tropicamide( anti-muscarinic drugs)causes relaxation of sphincter pupillae.
