Chemical Tests: 1)Using Sodium hydroxide:To 1ml 1% copper sulphate solution add 5 drops of fixed oil.Then add 5 drops of 10% sodium hydroxide.A clear blue solution is obtained that indicates glycerin in sample. 2)Using sodium hydrogen sulphate:To 5 drops of solution in a test tube add a pinch of sodium hydrogen sulphate.Pungent odour eolves from the tube indicating glycerine.
