Aspartame is just another artificial sweetener, C14H18N2O5, formed from aspartic acid. In small does it does no harm. Even this small dose puts some extra pressure on the liver . Higher doses of aspartame in sweetening of food could damage the liver. Particularly sweets, chocolates and chewing gums containing aspartame as the sweetening agent could cause greater damage than good to the human systems.
