Nimesulide has been banned in some countries. But it is widely used in India, it is prescribed for children also. Is it a safe drug?

The ability of the human being to respond against a drug depends on race.

For example south africans are more resistant than Indians who are more resistant than Americans.

In that sense, Nimesulide is not safe in Americans where as it is being used in India. However its ban in India is also a point to be focused by our Govt.

However Nimesulide use in paediatric cases was restricted in India. Major reason is its adverse effect on liver.

Hope in near future, its use in adults will also be restricted!
